hi everyone, our trip went well. our first day of the construction went very well. was cloudy so it wasn’t to hot. where our site is the scenery is beuatiful, lot of kids. our accomadations aren’t as nice as what we had in haiti but the reason we’re here is wha;t important. guatemala city is quite big, we are more in the mountain region, i guess. love and miss you all. hope you found the web site and our blog okay. mel please share or forward the info. thanks for the prayers, hug and kisses. tell william i need him as my interpreter.
Dear Doc — Thank you very much for your email update. I am happy to hear things are going well and I know with God’s help things will go well during your entire trip. Things are hectic here since Mom was taken to the ER this morning by ambulance. Spectrum downtown has admitted her with an initial diagnosis of aspirated pneumonia. She is receiving oxygen and they have started antibiotics to fight off the pneumonia. They are also talking about a feeding tube since she can’t swallow anything without running the risk that she will aspirate more into her lungs. Of course she does not want a feeding tube. No indication now how long she will be in the hospital or whether she will be able to go back to Rose Garden.
I certainly don’t want to “bomb” you with bad news but the other development is that Cher’s father passed away yesterday. Visitation is tonight and Mel & I are planning to go unless I get a call from the hospital about Mom, etc. Everyone knows you are on your trip, including Mom, and everyone has said to give you their best and that they are keeping you and everyone in thought and prayer. I am too, of course.
Thanks again very much for your update. I love you and miss you very much and I can’t wait to see you when you return. Stay safe, have fun, work hard and don’t take any wooden cups of coffee. Luv Ya, D.C.
Hey mama, you look great!! You all look like you’re doing amazing work for the people down there in the glorious name of the Lord. I forwarded this link onto some family & some of the bible study sisters….we all miss you! Keep up the good work, be safe, and keep up the awesome work!

You don’t worry about being away, life here is fine and things are settiling down. Dad is keeping his head above water, I made him take me to AG (Asian Garden) last night after visitation, so I fed him well. Grandma is feeling much better today, dad called and left me a message at work, and Missy is down there today also. I”m going to head over to visit her tomorrow after my race so she’ll be okay. Cher seemed to be doing just fine with everything, the visiitation was very nice. She knows you send your love, and everyone is sending love right back to you!!!
Keep focused on your jobs down there as they are as important as life here is…if not more so! I love you very much & miss you!!

Greetings from the wilds of Michigan, Doc! Sorry I haven’t kept up with my replies to your email updates on your trip. It sounds as though you are very busy which of course we all expected but it sounds like it is GOOD busy! I don’t know for sure when you will see this reply but things are still moving along here, although things have been somewhat hectic. Mom is doing quite a bit better but they said they will keep her in the hospital into the first of the week. I won’t hit you with the details since it would take me two hours to do this reply and I know you don’t have time to read the details anyway. You and everyone of course are in our thoughts and prayers and we can’t wait to see you when you get home so we can hear all the details of your service and your experiences there. Miss you and love you– D.C.
